Events can be added to your website and, like News, is a great way to keep your website fresh and interesting for both your clients and also to improve Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for your website. When writing up your title and event description, always keep keywords in mind for the search engines.
Only current and upcoming events will show as a teaser on the home page of your website. Expired events will be hidden in your Events section after the 'End Date', even if they remain published. These expired events can still be viewed by clicking through the sitemap link at the bottom of your website, though.
When should I make an Event?
An event is something that is going to happen in the future, and that you want people to participate in. Use Events to keep people informed about what is coming up.
Examples of good events are things like upcoming workshops, a grand opening or any specials that will be happening. Field days or trade shows that your business is participating in are more great events you could invite your readers to visit. All these things can give a great sense of action and life.
To add an Event to your website:
1. Go to the Admin and click Events. From here you will be able to add, edit and delete Events.
2. Click 'Add Event' to create a new event
3. Fill in the relevant details such as the title, description, and the start and end dates of the event. Note that when the end date passes the event will no longer come up in the teaser section on your homepage.
You can also add images but the size limit for single images is 10Mb, and larger images will return an error message. You cannot upload any non-image files here. This includes PDFs and Word doc files. If you have an image in a PDF you can try converting it using an online tool. Otherwise, you can link to the file as a download.
4. Don't forget to toggle 'Published' at the bottom and save your changes.
